Bernal Heights

Once a cow pasture and dairy sits Bernal Heights, one of the last hidden neighborhoods to be “discovered” in San Francisco. Bernal offers great views of the city from the coveted north slope, sunny weather, and a family-oriented neighborhood. Bernal consists of two parks. The largest is the undeveloped open space Bernal Heights, adored by dog walkers and hikers alike. At the foot of Bernal, Precita Park offers young children a playground and large expanse to play around in. The retail center of Bernal can be found along the main drag, Cortland Street. Small, funky one-off boutiques, bookstores, bars, grocers and gift shops are littered with ethnic restaurants that on a single block. Bernal Heights is bordered by Mission Street to the Western, which offers MUNI bus service, and within walking distance, a BART station at 24th and Mission.
