Cow Hollow

Nestled between Pacific Heights and the Marina, Cow Hollow is a charming piece of San Francisco. Named for its old grazing grounds for the cattle owned by Pac Heights dwellers. Today, it’s home to the city’s most attractive shopping and dining for locals along Union Street. Gorgeous examples of Victorian and Edwardian styles as well as art-deco apartment buildings line these blocks. Home investors will find a nice blend of mixed-use buildings and single-family residences to choose from. The major draw is Union Street, a premier shopping district. Many restaurants, some with outdoor seating, are prime for people-watching. Union Street’s home to fashion boutiques, jewelry and antique stores, spas and salons. It’s also a nightlife destination, with everything from wild sports bars to super-chill lounges and wine bars. Give tourists a local peek at San Francisco with a trip to the historic Octagon House, which houses a small museum; the beautiful, freshly restored Lombard Gate to the sprawling Presidio; and take in the gorgeous Bay views from the Lyon Street steps. Several bus lines serve the neighborhood and cabs are never too hard to find. The neighborhood’s natural food store makes grabbing groceries for a quick dinner a breeze. Many find Cow Hollow to be one of the city’s most livable neighborhoods, with friendly people, great shopping, and beautiful homes.
